In this building the grapes were pressed and aged. The wooden winescrew dates back to 1699 and can still be admired today. Over a long period this building was used for agricultural purposes as well as for a dairy with cheese production. It was here that in 1811 the devastating fire broke out and destroyed the entire Old Town. The foundation walls of the main wine press house date back to the 13th c. The south-facing wall was part of the building as well as the town wall.
Up to the 19th c there were two apart-ments in the house, and it belonged to the Gallati House on Upper Lane (today’s Town Hall). During the interior renovation in 1999–2001 a new well was inaugurated.
