The Town Hall (former Gallati House)

This building has served as the Town Hall since 1921. Since the renovations
in 1981/82 and 1994/95 the municipality has used its modern offices. There used to be a small police station here as well. From the 16th c to 1855 the house was owned by the Provincial Clerk’s and Mayor’s family, the Gallati. This family led an active and elevated life in the political, cultural as well as social spheres. This was evident from the library, and the house chapel that was built in 1702, as well as from the guesthouse “The White Cross” dating from 1774–1798. After the Great Fire of 1811 it was rebuilt as a residential house with two flats in its
classical style.
