As early as the 17th century there was a guesthouse on the church and
market square, which was renovated in 1615. It was called “The Yellow
Lion”. The Great Fire of 1811 razed the inn to the ground. After 1820 the
house was rebuilt in Biedermeier style and run under the name of “Löwen”
(Lion). For several decades there was a butcher on the ground floor. In a
comprehensive interior and exterior renovation in 1985/86, a jazz club
was built, and together with its new name “Guild-House” new life was put
into the building and the Old Town. The inn sign depicting a lion is worthy
a note.
