The Guesthouse “The Crown”

In the 17th c the “Krone” (Crown) was passed into the possession of a noble
Provincial Clerk’s family – the Gallati family. At that time it was called “St Christoffel’s House”. In 1712 the Mayor, Johann Rudolf Gallati (JRG), had his coat of arms carved in stone above a window on the ground floor. Together with the “Gallati Living Room” it reminds us of their former glory. There has been a restaurant in the building for a long time. In the 20th c it was called “Kronenhalle” and is now known as “Krone”. A special feature of the house is the passage way (built like a town gate house) which links the Upper and the Lower Lane.
