The Curate’s House

In the 14th c the counts of Sargans donated the Curate’s House St Mary
(Beatae Mariae Virginis) as a clerical foundation. The house of the St Mary
Foundation was built in 1464 by Countess Agnes and after the 16th c it
was administered by the Tschudi family of Gräpplang. It was rebuilt in
1733 and was the only residential house that escaped the Great Fire of 1811. From 1860–1908 the secondary school was located on the ground
floor. Today the curate’s house is used by church clubs and for residential
purposes.
